Families can follow clues and solve puzzles to earn a Maltesers or Moo Free egg at the end of each trail

With the Easter weekend fast approaching and spring holidays in full swing, families across Scotland are looking to make the most of the final days before the school term resumes.
While the excitement of having nothing on the agenda may have started to fade for some kids, there’s no shortage of ways to keep them entertained, and a few activities this April stand out from the rest.
One of the highlights comes courtesy of the National Trust for Scotland, which has unveiled its 2025 Easter Egg Trails, a family-friendly adventure designed to delight and engage children of all ages.
“Share special moments with your loved ones at our charity’s amazing Easter Egg Trails all across Scotland,” the Trust said. “Combine a lovely spring walk with your puzzle-solving skills to earn a delicious Easter treat – we guarantee fun for all the family!”

Each trail invites families to follow clues, solve puzzles and claim a chocolate reward at the end. This year’s prize options include Maltesers and Moo Free eggs, making the experience more inclusive for children with dietary needs.
“The trail at each place is completely different (you are very welcome to try as many as you like) and will help you and your family explore and learn more about the stories of the property,” the Trust added.
And for those looking to plan ahead or find more details about what to expect at a specific location, the Trust has a handy tip: “You can also keep an eye on our property Facebook pages for more information about each trail.”
The cost of taking part is £5 per trail sheet, with proceeds going toward the conservation charity’s efforts in maintaining Scotland’s historic places and landscapes.
