We tried the viral peel-off lip liner that lasts all day (2025)

Lip liners are having a redemption arc right now, but one in particular is blowing up on TikTok, with influencers applying and then peeling off the formula. Meet the Sacheu Peel Off Lip Liner Stay-N that can be used as a lip liner and also swatched all over as a lip stain.

The first thing you notice is that it's not a traditional pencil, but rather a liquid (think the same texture as a liquid lipstick) that contains a film-forming ingredient – meaning it can be peeled off once dry to leave a crisp, transfer-proof line in its wake.

Another benefit of a liquid is that it can be laced with skincare ingredients including hyaluronic acid and vitamin E. So unlike pencil lip liners, which often feel chalky and tug at the skin, the Sacheu Peel Off Lip Liner Stay-N is designed to glide on and leave lips feeling plump and hydrated.

Also of note is just how long-lasting the effect is. All seven shades – ranging from nude to a nearly black shade that Billie Eilish made famous – are said to last 12 hours without the need for top ups.

In terms of application, there's a small window to customise the shade - leave it on for just 10 minutes if you'd like just a hint of colour or up to 20 minutes for a deeper stain. And then simply peel the colour off, starting at the outer corners.

I chose shade 06 COREal, a bright orange red, and only outlined my lips. When I saw how punchy the shade was – I'm not going to lie – I panicked. But actually, when I peeled the liner away, the colour that was left behind was a subtle peachy hue that made my lips pop but didn't look like an obvious over line.

I did cheat a little, though, and used a damp tissue to blur the edges. But I would do the same with a regular lip liner as I don't like too perfect a line. A little lip balm swiped over the top delivered a really pretty, next-to-natural finish.

On me the colour lasted a full day without needing to be reapplied (my cleanser lifted it off that night) but would I do it every day? There's something really addictive – and fun – about the whole theatre of applying and peeling it off. And let's face it, makeup is meant to be fun!

But the 10-15 minute setting time does mean you have to schedule it into your morning beauty routine, which feels like a little too much effort for me, personally. This is a product I'm definitely saving for a night out as you don't have to worry about feathering or transfer when you have a glass of wine.

Other takeaways include being prepared for the formula to feel a bit strange while it sets – cool and a little like you've covered your lips in cling film, but nothing unpleasant. I'd also recommend being as precise with your application as possible – although if you're quick, you should be able to wipe away any mistakes with a cotton bud.

This is one of those fun and innovative products that makes you wonder how you ever did makeup without it. Sacheu found me at a time when low effort and minimal makeup is very much my vibe. I'm all about enhancing my own features instead of creating a whole new face shape and complexion with makeup every morning.

The application is pretty easy - it can be a bit messy to clean up if your line gets wobbly but it is generallya quick and smooth process. It takes about 10 minutes to dry and then peeling it off is SO FUN. At first, the shade I chose – Noohd – looked dark and a little chaotic, but after a quick wipe and a slick of gloss, it was so pretty.

Anytime I've had the time to pop this on in the morning I've been wearing it before work and I would not go out-out without it now.

I’m obsessed with lip stains, so when the Sacheu Stayn Lip Liner in shade GetRedy landed on my desk, I was so excited. I was a little nervous it might be way too red for me, but to my surprise, the final look was more subtle than I expected. It was definitely different from my Holy Grail, MAC Lip Liner in Whirl (which is my usual go-to), but I wasn’t mad about it at all. The staying power is amazing – I wore it all day and it didn’t budge. Next time, I’d love to try a pinkier or nude shade, but this is perfect for long office days or a night out when you don’t want to worry about reapplying.

I find myself reapplying lip liner and a lipstick or gloss regularly throughout the day, so when I was asked to test a product that gives you permanent lippy for 24 hours? I was hyped. Until I wasn't.

Okay, as you can see, my rather messy experience with the Sacheu lip liner was largely down to user error. I slathered that stuff all over my lips like I would a normal gloss and ended up looking like I required urgent medical attention. Note to self: read the instructions.

Once the clean-up operation was complete, I was actually pleasantly surprised at the decidedly less alarming colour I was left with: a subtle peachy-pink that lasted all afternoon and evening. Is it worth the faff? To me, no. But for those less clumsy than I –please see colleague below –then I can see why this product would be a hit. To avoid giving myself pink teeth (and those around me calling an ambulance), I'll be giving it a miss.

Sacheu’s peel-off lip liner is just what you need to complete your lazy girl makeup routine. I was nervous at first as it claims it has a 48-hour staying power, so once it’s on, it’s on.

I love a brown toned lip so I opted for shade 04 HEY-zel. Initially, I thought it might be too dark for my skin tone, but I dived straight in.

It comes out as a glossy black liquid, but after 10 minutes it’s dry and ready to peel off, et voila! A beautiful, lasting, semi-permanent lip colour. Turns out, the shade is perfect - it’s definitely earned a place in my makeup bag!
